ATACAMA - detail
All modules in this work were dyed in different blacks, each the result of a mix of red, blue and yellow. During the discharge process, depending on the initial composition of the colour, a great diversity of hues is obtained, from ocres to blue-grays. The ”arashi shibori” technique (pole wrapping) was used but the reverse of the cloth is what is shown, where more colorant stays as the discharge medium takes longer to reach. The result is a design which is close to that of a print. Both colour and textures remind us of a desert landscape. Atacama is the driest desert of the world, in the north of Chile.
