The emphasis in this piece is on the interaction of colours. One red and four different blues were used, resulting in different backgrounds for each combination. The red, although the same in all panels, is perceived to be different as it is affected by the adjacent colour. Wood squares were used to create the pattern. These bright red and blue shapes are reminiscent of a strong light against a dark background.
