PLAYA - detail
The pattern is obtained by binding threads parallel to each other around a pole (called “arashi shibori” in Japanese). The resulting delicate lines are reminiscent of the patterns on the surface of the sea, and that left by the wind and water on the sand. The folds of the fabric create a contrast of fine lines and soft areas of colour, which, as “shadows”, result in a three-dimensional effect.
