The dyed cloth has a repetitive, regular pattern of dots created by clothes pins holding the folded cloth. This suggests a continuous land, and the stitching delimits the fields. The result is much like the different crops in vast expanses of land, bringing colour and scale to an otherwise monotonous landscape.
