A clamp-resist protects the original colour (terracotta, orange). Apart from the original colour, which appears under the fold, and the red of the dye, a third, dark colour is introduced by means of sublimation (transfer of a colour from one surface to another). The smooth, shiny areas trapped under the resist recall the coals in a hearth.
