VISILLO - detail
In this work, the warp has been left free, held together only at the top and bottom using twill weaving. The material is very fine linen, clamp-resist dyed using wood squares. This is a compromise between ikat and shibori: in ikat technique, the yarn is dyed before weaving, whereas in shibori the woven surface is dyed. The delicate quality of the dyed weaving recalls that of sheers against a window.
